Since 1985, work on projects that investigate space as a reality occupied and shaped by humans. Perception of space and spatial atmosphere in both open and closed spaces are recurring themes in his photographic and video works. Alpine regions and urban structures, architectures and industries as well as prisons and hospitals and related patterns of life are themes and locations for his artistic engagements. This is evident in his work groups Alpine Landschaften (since 1987), Raumfolgen (since 1991), Rohbauten (since 1997), Artefakte (since 1992), Bildraum (since 2001). The group IRAN was created between 2005 and 2008, and The Aspen Series between 2009 and 2016, Raumaneignung between 2015-2016. From 2011 work on the project Koexistenzen (completed 2017). 2012 beginning of a further work series in the alpine landscape: the Portraits and simultaneously he initiated another focus on objects and structures that become Relicts through their loss of function.
