Videos
As opposed to my photographic works, whose concept suggest a dynamic sequence of perception, most of my videos are static because they have been shot with a fixed camera. This method intends to capture the dynamics of the action, as if it were a “moving photo” or an image that developed a life of its own or told a story through actors in a static frame.
What ties the videos of these landscape events together is the appropriation of the landscape without a conscious acknowledgement of it. It is regarded as just another piece of sports equipment. The two worlds seem to have nothing to do with each other except that the topographical conditions are necessary, albeit interchangeable. Participants as well as viewers take a distanced stance to the landscape, whereby the attention of the participants is focused on their sports equipment, while the gaze of the viewer is directed at the spectacle of the participants.
